Welcome to TPOMBA, the
Toronto
Parents of Multiple Births Association!
TPOMBA
is one of the largest not-for-profit self-help and support organizations
in Canada for parents of twins, triplets, and more. Our services
are provided by our members for our members, and while we are
not 'experts', we certainly know the challenges, stresses, and
delights of caring for two or more babies at one time!
Formed in 1973 and incorporated in 1976, the Toronto Parents of Multiple
Births Association is thrilled to be celebrating over 25 years
of providing support and information to the multiple birth community.
Whether your multiples are already here or still on the way, we
offer our members the opportunity to connect with a unique 'community
of interest' of over 500 members across the Greater Toronto Area.
Our main goal has remained constant. Multiple birth families have
unique needs and challenges that are not always acknowledged by
society. We hope that we can help other parents cope with the
challenges of raising twins, triplets or higher multiples through
support, education, and friendship.
We have developed many services to ensure that parents of multiples
can access necessary information and support relating specifically
to multiples. Information nights for new and expectant parents
are held regularly. During that all-important first year of caring
for your multiples, we offer our Warmlines - access to friendly
experienced mums, who are only a telephone call away. As our multiples
grow and their needs change, we bring in knowledgeable speakers
to address topics such as 'the terrible twos times two - or more.'
We offer MoMs Support Group meetings in thirteen locations across
the city, each with their own library of popular books on parenting
multiples, so busy parents can attend meetings close to home.
The meetings are a great opportunity to meet and socialize with
other parents in the same situation. As well, our members always
find a wealth of information and shared experiences in the Bulletwin,
our bi-monthly newsletter.
To assist parents in adapting to their ever-changing role as parents
of multiple birth children, TPOMBA encourages the exchange of
ideas, research, and information, which, we believe, will enrich
the multiple experience, and greatly benefit our families in coping
with physical, emotional and financial challenges - as well as
providing an opportunity to celebrate the joys of parenting.
The Toronto Parents of Multiple Births Association was established
many years ago and continues to be a vital and dynamic self-support
organization. Our success speaks volumes to the needs and commitment
of parents seeking out opportunities to share and learn about
their special circumstances as parents of multiples.
I am extremely proud of this organization, as it is run completely
by dedicated volunteers.
It is both my privilege and pleasure to welcome you to our website,
and to the wonderful world of multiples.
We're only a phone call away if you need us, or if you have any questions.
We look forward to hearing from you.
