Join the Toronto Parents of Multiple Births Association for a special evening of parenting advice and humour from experts ALYSON SCHAFER and JENNIFER KOLARI on May 17th.

ALYSON SCHAFER is a psychotherapist and internationally acclaimed parenting expert.  She is the Ask an Expert columnist for Today’s Parent Magazine and sits on the Health Advisory Board for Chatelaine Magazine.  She is the best-selling author of three parenting books; “Breaking the Good Mom Myth” (2007), “Honey, I Wrecked The Kids” (2009), and her latest “Ain’t Misbehavin’” ( 2011). Her advice is practical and ideal for busy families with multiples, and her presentation style is hilarious! Her stories will leave you wondering whether she has been secretly observing your own family's daily life.

Alyson's presentation will be a specially tailored version of her "Democratic Parenting 101" session. This talk addresses why parenting is so difficult today. Alyson offers a new way to think about our roles as parents, highlighting the fundamental "do's and don'ts of parenting" and offering some sound advice on issues that parents can apply immediately.

Child and Family Therapist JENNIFER KOLARI is a leading parenting expert and the founder of Connected Parenting. Author of Connected Parenting: How To Raise A Great kid (2009) and You’re Ruining My Life! (But Not Really) Surviving the Teenage Years with Connected Parenting (2011), Kolari is the Parenting expert on CBC’s Steven and Chris show, and has appeared frequently on Canada AM and Breakfast Television. Her advice can be found in magazines such as Today’s Parent, Redbook, Parent Magazine, Canadian Family and Chatelaine. Her entertaining workshops and insightful strategies, shared with warmth and humour, make her a highly sought-after speaker.

Jennifer's presentation for TPOMBA, "Polarizing Parents", will teach strategies you can use to find a common ground for you and your partner (alternatives to "good cop/bad cop"!). By introducing the principals of Connected Parenting into your individual parenting style, parents will be able to come closer together and learn to support each others parenting decisions and work together bringing out the best in each other and their children.

TPOMBA members: $5
Non-members: $10 (Bring your nanny, your partner, your parents, your friends! Invite your kids' teachers or your neighbours!)
Thursday, May 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the Daniels Hollywood Theatre at Sick Kids Hospital.

TPOMBA’s Clothing and Equipment Sales take place twice a year, in the spring and fall. Our sales are an amazing opportunity for members to buy and sell gently used items, and we open the sale up to the public after member shopping hours have ended. All TPOMBA members are welcome to submit items for sale and are of course encouraged to shop. Our sales are a great way to stretch your family’s budget! You’ll find used clothing from newborn to size 10, plus gear such as strollers, high chairs, playpens, gates, swings,  and toys. Many shoppers are able to fully stock their children’s closets for the season in just one shopping trip!
